It depends on the length and the language. Short personal documents in common languages usually take a few working days; urgent jobs can be agreed on an express basis. The exact deadline is stated in your quote.

Not on a plain copy. On a notarised copy, yes – the apostille then authenticates the notary's signature and seal. This is the way to go if you want to keep your original.

Yes, it is common practice when you want to keep the original. We check in advance that the receiving institution accepts it.
