If you live abroad

You can sign the power of attorney at a Slovak embassy or consulate, or before a local notary. A signature certified by a foreign notary usually needs an apostille and a certified translation into Slovak. We explain which route is faster in your situation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the signature on a power of attorney have to be certified?

It depends on the purpose. For a property transfer, for example, a certified signature is generally required. We always check the institution's requirements before starting.

Is a bilingual power of attorney enough instead of a translation?

Often yes, but not everywhere. Some offices require a certified translation even of a bilingual document. We advise based on the country and institution.

Can I sign a power of attorney abroad?

Yes – at a Slovak embassy or consulate, or before a local notary followed by an apostille and a translation.
