What a certified translation is in Slovakia
What people in Slovakia call a “court translation” (súdny preklad) is legally an official translation (úradný preklad) under Act No. 382/2004. It is produced by a translator registered on the list of experts, interpreters and translators kept by the Slovak Ministry of Justice. The translation is bound to the document (the original or a copy), completed with the translator's certification clause and stamped with the translator's round seal.
When you need one
- marriage in Slovakia or registering a birth or marriage from abroad
- diploma recognition, studying or working abroad
- residence permits and procedures at the foreign police
- court, inheritance and notarial proceedings
- company formation, commercial register changes, public tenders
- registering a vehicle imported from another country
Translations for use abroad
A Slovak official translation is not automatically accepted everywhere. Some institutions require an apostille on the translation itself, others insist on a sworn translator registered in their own country. What the price depends on
The price depends on the language pair, the length of the text (counted in standard pages of 1,800 characters including spaces), how specialised it is and the deadline. Short personal documents are often charged at a minimum rate. You get the exact price before we start.
